I have several T2-Cs in my latest system and alot of them control 2-3 rooms each. On each remote there is are 2 lighting page per room. I had a jump from each source page to its co responding lighting page. problem was , there were 2 lighting pages so to get back to where I came from I could not just use a Previous page press.

In each room there are
2 cable boxes
2 sats
2 dvds
1 vcr
1 security
all pages have direct access to the lighting for that room....not going back to the menu and selecting it and what not

All source's are shared threw out the house in case you were wondering

Here was my solution

On each page have the lighting button with a jump to the lighting page.

Also have a macro to set a flag(I used the flag number that corresponded to the page so that I didn't even have to label the flag).

Because there are 2 lighting pages I jump to the first one.

I have a MORE button that jumps to the next page of lighting(Just in case you got lost, this is were I ran into the problem in that if I jump to the second page and then try to get back to the source page I originally came from by using a "previous Page"jump, I would loop back and forth between the lighting pages)

On the first page of lighting I have a "Back" button that tests for whatever flag was set to get me there, clears that flag, and then jumps to the corresponding page.

I couldn't think of any other way of doing it. If anyone has any question about it, feel free to email me. I would be happy to send out copies.

I have just tested this on a T3 and I think you do not need the flags.

Assigning previous on the Home Button of both of the lighting pages will take you back to the control of your source. If you are on page 2 of the lighting, you will have to press it twice: the first press will take you back to lighting page 1 and the second back to the source control.

I am not sure but I think the "previous" problem happens with 3 pages or more.

Your right. However if you go back and forth several times, it locks up. The client that I am dealing with is very indesisive so I am expecting him to go back and forth alot.

Never mind. You are right. I just had a "more" button on the second page of lights that took me back to the first page, thus messing up the rotation. If I only had a previous button on the second page I would have been fine.

Oh well. It was fun to programe though.

Flags are nifty. I just finished up a prototype 4 zone system using flags.

It stores what source all 4 zones are on, what devices are already on or off, and even checks to see if it needs to send out input commands or not. It can sync one zone to other zones as well in a kind of follow the leader configuration.

It uses 58 flags and 120 system macros.

Somehow I doubt it. To do something like that, it must have taken lots of hours. Most are generous, but I don't think that much.

No Offense.

Lexiphanic,
Can you possibly send me the file too. I have a need for a 3 zone system coming up. I like the idea of syncing all zones and monitoring as well.

I'll start a new thread. I think I want to work with just a couple of people initially to iron out the bugs. After that, I might do a bit more of a widespread release.

I have 4 t2c controlling gear in 4 rooms. the components are shared between the 4 rooms via an 8xx fatboy: fireball, DVD player, dvr, cable box. I'm lloking at setting up flags to control which devices are in use so not to turn off any component that is being used by another room. Seems doable. Is this what the OP was doing? Setting flags on the processsor? I want to work on this but dont want to chase my tail.

Always a tough call! Quite often, without seeing what has already been done, it's nigh on impossible to trouble shoot. Obviously there has to be a lot of trust.
Recently I was able to help out another RC member with a flag issue, he's in the U.S and I'm in Oz, so there's no conflict. Others may well see it differently though.

On another note, on my own T2C I can track the Air Conditioning status from any of 16 input pages, 37 flags if memory serves me correctly. About ten hours of programming was involved. Must admit I'm not sure if I would want to simply hand it out though! HOWEVER, if it wasn't for other people helping me out I wouldn't be where I am with my programming (medium level)!

oex, if you give me a few days, I'll see what I can come up with to help you out, will probably do it on a T1 to make it easier to copy and paste. Also, I gather that you're using a RP6, could you confirm that please?

Iain

rp6 - yes

i'm thinking of having 4 flags for each "zone"

When zone 1 is using source 1 the four flags will be set to 1,0,0,0

when it uses source 3, 0,0,1,0

Same for the other four zones.

then check all flags and only turn off components with 0 values on the flags.

will this work?
