I am new to forums, so pardon any protocol mis-steps.
Today I plugged in my IR-PRO and tried to capture some codes. When I selected the "capture" button, I got the error message "unable to load capture component". I checked all cables, swapped them out, checked the ports, re-booted system, etc. All fine. Called RTI tech sppt. and they thought the IR-PRO had gone bad. Bought new one (at $300) but still getting same error message. Any thoughts?

I've got a couple of external USB hard drives that only recognize if I plug them into the same USB port every time. I don't know why. Do you have more than one port to try? Did you originally set it up using a hub, and now your not, or vice versa?

Just some thoughts
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Are you pluggin the IRPro directly into the computer or a USB Hub? I would bypass the hub if you have one.
-Tried all USB ports on the computer?
-Do other USB connected peripherals work on the same port?
-Does the light go on when you plug it in? It should be red. If no light then no power.
-Do you USB wireless for internet?

I have tried more than one USB port, no luck. Other RTI gear such as an RP-6 and T3 work fine off the same ports. No hub is used, these are direct ports on the PC.

Check and see if you have activesync. I have had problems in the past connecting my URC gear to the laptop until I did some changes to activesync.
You will do well to do what you like

I had a similar problem and so far im the only one in the nation to call RTI tech support with this problem. I have a sony laptop (k23) and when i plugged in my ir pro the red light would come on for two seconds followed by the window sound for usb devices being plugged in then the light would turn off followed by the windows sound for usb devices being unplugged.
the problem is that sony put in sub standard usb ports that dont provide enough voltage to the devices to keep them powered on . My solution i have a really old dell that i carry around now that i use for learning ir and then transfer the ir library via usb thumb drive to my sony. it isnt the best but untill my company decides to get me a new laptop i have to make due.

hope that helps. you may want to get a usb hub that is powered and see if that works.

I would do the nice tried and true method of uninstalling all versions of theater touch and the usb drivers. Download the instlall file from RTI and reload everything.

I have a Sony laptop and have had the USB drivers become corrupted a few times.

If it truly is a USB power issue, a USB hub with plug in power supply can be found online for as little as $12 and should fix that problem.
