Has anyone used the RTI to control a security sytem. And if you have what brand did you use. I want to control a Ademco 128BP panel. Also what functions will i have with the RS-232.

The 128BP has some severe limitations via RS232. You should look into the 128FBP but its spendy or GE. I know because I learned the hard way.

No entry exit notification when armed. For example client comes in Gar/utility door nothing beeping on keypad to remind them to disarm.

No Auto Arm on AWAY or STAY. No Panic modes. Only ONE user code over RS232. Babysitter, Maid, etc use master code.

As for Security integration in a 1 way environment, probably not a good idea.

128FBP full keypad emulation via RS232. Crestron and AMX helped design the protocol.

And its terrible, we have one in use now and its not working well, the Crestron polling the panel is disabling the auto dialer..BAD, have to have Crestron arm only when all zones are showing no faults..Dont want the liabilty of force arming in case a door or window is open...BAD, feedback is slow
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

What about the Aphex Destiny 6100 panel? Crestron has a module in system builder for it. Has anyone tried it?

I am fighting with the Ademco panel myself right now. An ADT install and it has been a nightmare. Trying to control with Crestron.

This is a corporate security install and we were very specific on our requirements. None of which have been met from the DVR to the alarm panel.
When good enough is not good enough.

This won't help your Ademco problem but, The GE NX-8 and Concord are a breeze to integrate with 232(after you get through the first one).

While I've only used Elan, it stands to reason that it would also be seamless with other platforms with the possible exception being one way 232. A little feedback goes a long way with security system operation.

Dont use ademco, ge or any junk panels like that. Look into the DSC 1832, they have a rs232 piece that wires off the keybus for av guys get into. did it once w some guys that use AMX. it worked ok even though i dont believe in integrating the two, on top of illegal, and liable.. in MA anyways

I use DSC (specifically the 1832) and would never dream of calling Ademco or GE panels "junk." In fact, until the 1832/1864 DSC didn't have a good RS232 interface, and I wouldn't say the 1832/1864 are that good. Now I am not say Ademco is much better, but they have been doing it much longer, and have some of the bugs worked out. On the other hand most of the Crestron systems I have seen use a GE Advent security system.

With an RTI system (at least until the XP8 comes out) you will not get much use with a security system. You can send an arm command, but how do you know if the panel got it? You can send a disarm command, but how do you know the panel got it?
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
