I have had no success /w the 232 protocol on the Pioneer plasmas (been working on a PDP424MV and the PDP-5070. There used to be a custom installer resource on the Pioneer page, now I can’t find it.

Does anyone have the EXACT text you need to enter in TT to make this work? Do the plasmas need a null? I remember on some of the plasmas there was a variable baud rate, is the default still 9600?

Any help is appreciated.

Go to the pioneer site, then click on support, then home entertainment, then look in the bottom right of the page for custom install. You have to type in an email address to access. The 5070 isn't listed but uses the same as the elite models.

\x02**PON\x03 is the serial command for power on when in ascii mode.

You mean the ascii code in TT instead of hex right?

For the majority of the pioneers is it:
9600
8 bits
1 stop bits
Odd parity

I dont suppose anyone has an example in a system file they could send me?

You have to go into the integrator menu and change the communications from sr+ to rs232. It will give you a few baud rates but I think the default is 9600. The directions to get into the integrator menu is in the 232 protocol document.

Do you have the "menu", "power", "left arrow", and "right arrow" ir commands in your theater touch library that you could temporarily put in your remote?

I'm not sure about the MV series. We've only used the cmx series on the commercial side of pioneer.

Hey guys-

Got it working yesterday. The SR+ thing was throwing me off. There is no way of disabling it on my 424 (as far as I know), but as soon as I plugged into the 5070 it was like magic.

Thanks again Erik.

Does the Pioneers allow you to change Inputs, Volume, etc. via RS232 while the Power is off? I tried but so far no success.
