...before I change my mind AGAIN!

I just had a stroke of detached practical reasoning. Let's see:
- I have the T2, paid $649, love it to death, yet I am not FULLY satisfied as I dearly miss separate hardbuttons for transport control
- I may need RF for a new HT setup, at another $350 or so (including emitters)
- So all in all I will have paid between $650 and $1000 for a setup that is absolutely great, yet not completely satisfactory

This is where the stroke comes in.

If I HAVE to compromise, perhaps I should do that on different issues at GREATLY reduced cost (like a 15-1995 or so). Someday the perfect T2 sibling will be released WITH transport control, that's when I can splurge for one last time (yea right).

There you have it. I am going to sell my soul. The T2 is up for sale. See the Marketplace forum.

Hope it won't sell :-)

Arjen:

I'm new at all this remote control terminology, but what's transport control?

Transport controls are Play, Stop, Pause, Fast Forward, and Rewind. I miss them too, but I am so happy to have a navigation cursor (up, down, left, right, select) that I barely notice. :)

Thanks Will. I've learned alot today from you. Hey, if Arjen is awaiting something like that. Niles IntelliControl may come out with something like that soon, since they already have all the hard buttons for everything. They just need an LCD screen now.

Haha! Can you tell I am grasping?

Yeah, big SNIF for me. Not spoiled at all to be picky on a zillion dollar remote. Boohoo.

I don't think you're going to be saving any money going to the Niles IntelliControl. In fact, it will cost you more than the T2. However, it has all the hard buttons that you want without an LCD screen. You can check it out at the Niles webpage. Use Yahoo to find it, in case it's not as straight forward as Nile.com. Good luck in your search for the Holy Grail, uh I mean Remote :)

Found it, thanks. Not your average remote...

Well, it DOES have transport buttons ... but no programmable LCD panel - odd, as that takes away a world of customization.

Remember, too, that the Niles setup software can only
be purchased by a factory authorized dealer. Any tweaking will require a call to your dealer :-(

Arjen,

I posted a suggestion re: DVD transport controls in the "Discrete On/Off codes" thread. I'd really like you to keep your T2 as your posts are quite useful and insightful. So if you can't do it for you, do it for me!

Cheers,
Philip Brandes

Haha. Sure, I'll keep that investment alive for "community" sake . Appreciate your remark though.

Have interested buyers, but haven't sold it yet. Yippeeeeh :-) Feel like I am egging these guys on though. For now, the boss-woman won't let me sell...and I find myself obey so easily....in this case.

Now that's a switch - a remote that promotes conjugal harmony! :-)
