after adding my 7th Touchpad, the following error message was displayed on each RK3:
"Windows CE Networking Your IP address lease has expired DHCP was unable to renew your lease"
tapping OK on the error menu cleared it and the TP's work OK
What does this mean? will I see this again?

It needed a new IP from the router.
Is there a reason that you didn't static it?

no reason:
what would be the advange of static? IP lease never expires, permanent address allows for remote programming. Better address management on a network. The pertinent question should be what would be the advantage of not doing static.

Thanks guys
I am new to IP based Touchpads so I need some guidance
I still see the DHCP box popping up so I will have to assign static IP addresses: I guess I can start with a DHCP address and use that data for static entry?
appreciate any help

Well its best to assign a static IP outside of the DHCP address range...
WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN???
Well lets say you are using Linksys routers. The things have a default IP address of 192.168.1.1 and a default number of address set to 50. The DHCP starting address is usually 192.168.1.100
What did all that mean???
As new computers plug into the router requesting DHCP IP address, the router will assign them address in order starting from 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102.
Now as things are added and dropped from the network the IP address will expire. This is usually set somewhere in the router as DHCP lease time... but back to that later.
A simple way to go about it... if you have 3 IP touch pannels its good to go just uner or just above the address range. I.E Pannel 1 = 192.168.1.99 Pannel 2 = 192.168.1.98 Pannel 3 = 192.168.1.97
Why you ask...???
So you can avoid what is known as the dreaded IP address conflict. There is a long technical explination of what that means, but here is the basic.
That IP address is like a name. Each computer has a name. Each computer asks for INfo from the router and can only commmunicate back and forth through the Gateway/router. So if I want to talk to the Remotecentral.com. I (192.168.1.100) send my request to the router Router gets the info from where ever then bings it back and says, "here you go 192.168.1.100". Now where it goes array is if 2 things have the same addy 192.168.1.100. Info doesn't get where it needs to and the domain can flood...
"Crossing the streams would be Bad..."
Anyways here is the important stuff. Assign the pannels address that are not going to get handed out by the router. Log into the router and check the subnet... usually 255.255.255.0 Then Make sure to set the default gateway to the IP of the router... usually 192.168.1.1 Lastly chcek the staus page and locate the DNS. IF YOU DON'T ADD THIS YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO PULL INFORMATION FROM OUTSIDE THE LOCAL NETWORK. (Simpler) THE INTERNET WILL NOT WORK. (BASIC) YOU CAN'T USE THE WEB BROWSER.
Set those things in the config page of TheaterTouch and you are off to the races.

That was excellent advice from Springs.
I, personally, will always assign static ip's outside of the dhcp range and will assign static to every device possible (Fireballs especially).

I've set static addresses for the Fireball and the RK3. The RK3 will show the Now Playing screen for awhile, then it will say "Web page cannot be displayed". Is this because DHCP is still ON at the router?

Static IP addresses on both Fireball and RK3. The touchpanel is looking for the fireball\rti per the TT programming, and sees it fine at first. It will update Now Playing for a few songs and then gets the white screen of death "Web page cannot be displayed".
Previously I had DHCP enabled on the touchpanel and Fireball and it worked all day long. Only then, if the system was turned off, the next day it displayed the white screen of death.

Thats odd... Well my screens time out if I don't use them...
In the demo I have set up it is all static and I used the IP... no issue that I know of.
I tested it in the field with a friendly name and it worked for several hours... hmmm. Send me the config and also any relevant info about the network... Type of router If there are switches Where stuff is plugged in Physically and IP. If you have a remote management port to the network, and you don't mind me looking, include it. I would need the WAN IP too if I was to do that. etc.

When you say your screens 'time out' what do you mean?
It's a Linksys router and Netgear WAP. My laptop sees them no prob.
Email on it's way to you.

Ohh...
Just emailed...
On the linksys... log into the router. 192.168.1.1
Go to Status
Go to Local Network
DHCP client table.
This will tell you the addy of everything that is not static. Then you can hunt down the Bridge.
Once you have the bridge IP try logging into the IP of it and see if there is a setup page.
