Has anyone figured out a effect sleep timer yet.

I have an idea that would use a RP1 or RP6 system macro and a flag on the remote as long as you have line of sight to the equipment.

The system macro would run the predetermined time and then call the all off macro.
Then on the remote, test for the sleep flag to determine if it will be using the system RP1/RP6 macros or IR so the user can still function. Basically replicating the macros on the Remote and on the RP1/RP6 and calling them based upon the state of the flag.

Any one else have a better idea?
I'll let you know tomorrow..

Use the sleep timers in the equipment. Sony TVs often have timers. Some receivers do...

I did this like once...

Do you mean the macro sits for a few hours running...are you going to run other commands while that macro is executing?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I think what he means is that the Remote would ONLY function as an IR standalone remote, while the system macro is engaged (and thus tying up the RP6)

Better solution: use two RP6 units.

One exclusively is used for the sleep timer macro. When the sleep timer macro is called, it counts (delay) to a set time, and then executes a IR trigger for an ALL OFF macro which is stored on the other RP6.

The other RP6, is used for all regular commands and macros. Both units can function with RF.

You'd need to have the sleep-timer-RP6 output IR via a flasher....and connect it to an IR receiver connected to the second (main) RP6 for triggering the ALL OFF command.

Bit of a work-around solution, but should work if this feature is needed. Hell, you could even use this method in a larger system to simulate normal operations of the system while the client is away on holidays. Could trigger ON and OFF macros on a 6 or more RP6 units distributed throughout the home.... :)

.... or you could just put in Crestron....
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

Thanks for the input everyone. The client's receiver does not have a sleep time.. I am weighing the cost of replacing the receiver against the cost of the RP6/RP1 and programming combo.
I'll let you know tomorrow..
