Did an install a few weeks ago with some existing equipment.

The Sony Plasma is giving me some issues. It's the current generation... or most recent anyway. All the standard discrete codes work, but they aren't working every time. The emitter is run over speaker wire (Someone else hacked the first install). As far as I know, this shouldn't be causing the issue.

The thing that is most perplexing is that I'm using the same codes (Sony) that I've used a zillion times, without any problems in the past. Basic ON, OFF, and INPUTS.

The RP-1 is in the cabinet with the equipment (not unusual), but the cabinet is nearly all mirrors. I can't see how that could be causing the problem... but I'm looking at everything.

The only thing that I can think to try is to bump up the number of repeats.

Equipment:
T2+
RP-1
Xantach connecting block
Xantach Emitter

Any other suggestions?

TIA,
Andy

What do you mean “all mirrors”? If you have a lot of equipment facing mirrors, you could really be in trouble, because you get delayed reflections which cause cancellations just like audio signals can cancel each other, but this is timing related. I have seen jobs where a mirror was mounted directly across from a plasma display, sometimes when the customer would walk in front of the plasma it would change channels all by itself.
Get some of those Xantech emitter blinders that cover the emitter shell and a good portion of the surrounding area, to cut down on delayed reflections.

Yeah the hoods help Also make sure that the emiiter and run to the TV is good.

Is the TV on a emitter? I usually just keep the TV in IR. Usually hits everything in the room actually.

Anyways that would let you rule out a bad emiter etc...

No no no... you guys misunderstood me. The equipment is IN a cabinet that is covered (on the outside) with mirrors... top and bottom... it's pretty goddy. :-p

I spent some time with this setup today and I've come to the conclusion that what ever the mirrors are made out of (or attached too) is causing RF issues. I'm going to move the location of the RP-1. That should solve my problem.
