Hey guys-

Been using RTI for about the past 3 months. Previously we had been using UR and Prontos. Needless to say I am very happy with the resaults Ive had with RTI.

I want to start to control my plasmas via rs232. Ive been looking at some of the fuji / pioneer 232 code pages and Im a confused. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction when it comes to using rs232 or maybe give me a quick explaination.

Thanks
-Chris

I do Fujitsu Plasmas.

I'm on my home PC, so I don't have the files handy...

You can email them and they will send you the documents for the displays. [email protected] (I think this is the addy that I sent the request too.)

If I can get online with the Laptop tomorrow I'll email'm to you. Then we can get into how it's laid out. You will need a gender changer.

I would really appreciate the how to session. Do these 232 codes work /w the new line of Fujis?

-Chris

PS- Any help /w the Denon 3805 232 codes would be helpful too.

Thanks again

Ok, I got the RS-232 working with the Denon 3805. Pretty cool :)

Still having problems getting it going /w the Plasma. I know i said that I need the RS-232 info for the fuji (which is the job that Im working on), but Ive been testing it while Im at home and I have a Pioneer Plasma. Do I need a null modem to talk to the plasmas?

I can't speak for the Pioneer models. You DON'T need a null modem with the Fujitsu plasmas, Just a Gender Changer. The codes for last years models are the same for the new ones... or at least the few that I've tried.

Pioneer don't need a null, just a gender. BUT you do have to turn on the 232. Turn set off. Press Menu, turn set on, use cursors to set rates.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

Yeah, you have to get into the integrator menu for the pioneer TV.

with the set off, press the HOME MENU button (Menu doesn't work for me), then within 3 seconds press the power to turn on.

Turn OFF SR+, then set the rate to something like 4800 (which I use) or whatever baud rate you want to use.

After that its pretty easy. A turn on command looks something like this:

/x02**PON\x03

That may not be 100% correct, because I'm going off memory.... but should be pretty close, and help you interpret the protocol.
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...
