Does anyone know how many channels that are sending D.D. singnal, I can only find one on channel 107 Direct tv? Last week I was getting it an channel 114 Ronin. witch is playing ANTS this week and I know this film is in D.D. but they are not broadcasting it in D.D. What gives, it is all a digital data stream right?

Specific PPV (direct ticket) movies are DD. Typically, if the film is in letterbox, it is DD.

Usually, this will be the first week a new picture (like Ronin) is shown.

I've heard rumors that USSB (soon to be DTV) will be sending a DD bitstream, but no confirmation to that anywhere.

Yes it's only one channel (whatever the letterbox movie of the month is). But I was told when I called to ask about this that they are waiting for more subscribers asking for DD and they'll add it to additional PPV's- so pick up the phone and call Direct TV and let them know you want DD!

Based on the suggestion from John,I just e mailed directv and told them that I would like to see more Letterbox/Dolby Digital movies. I recommend that anyone else who would like this to copy this URL [Link: directv.com] and send them an e mail too.

Starz! is now also broadcasting in DD. I watched Lost in Space last night and sure enough, the DD light on my processor went on. I own the DVD and I can tell you that the DSS version sounded just as good as the DVD. Also, Showtime should begin broadcasting in DD sometime in Sept.

I have Dish and also get 1 DD PPV channel. I reccommend too that any Dish subscribers call and ask for more DD PPV channels. EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE A DD RECEIVER! Do it for me! You know you'll get one sooner or later and the channels will be waiting for you!

Well, they tried. I was excited to see that "Enemy of the State" would be broadcast on DirectTV 108 last nite in Dolby 5.1. I even invited a few friends over to watch it. The movie was great, suspensefull, and fun to watch. Only problem was, at about 8:40 they stopped broadcasting it! The MOVIE WASN'T OVER! DirectTV's phones were busy all nite (no surprise there). A little searching discovered it was playing on channel 109, but 1/2 hour later, and NOT in Digital 5.1. I could have rented that movie on DVD for 49 cents, but I thought I'd give DirectTV a chance to demonstrate their advantages (no trips to the rental store). They failed miserably.

If you subscribe to Satellite Direct, they list all movies in Dolby Digital 5.1, on the first page of the Movies listing. In March 2000, there are 23 movies being shown in Dolby Digital 5.1 playing on Starz! East (channel 520). Remember you need an optical or coax connection from your DBS receiver to trasmit DD 5.1.

I have Direct TV and usually Stars has about 2 movies a week and they are usually in DD on Friday Saturday or Sunday. I have never had a problem with them and sometimes Encore has some but not many.

I AM SHOCKED!!! I've got Dish Network and I went to confirm and right now at 5:13 AM I've got Deep blue sea, Notting hill, American Pie, Red Violin, The matrix and The Generals Daughter all in dolby digital most with your choice of 4:3 or letterbox and most with a choice of all day purchase as well.

I've a 2 dish combination which is essentially the same as their eliptical dish. I'm an installer in Denver and I'm pretty sure my DIRECTV subscribers get all these as well, perhaps more. I'll check it out next time I get a chance.

Also DIRECTV took over all USSB accounts over 6 months ago here. Their phone lines were busy for about a month after it happened.
