Hello, I have 2 x marantz zs5300s for whole house audio. They provide the functionality I want (multiple RCA inputs, multiple channel outputs which can source any of the inputs), but Ethernet control would be nice :). However, I keep on getting channels blowing. Both units had both the channels on zone 1 fail (no ouput on these channels) in the space of about one year. I returned these under warranty and they were fixed. I then worked in another country for a couple of years and they went into storage. Now I have returned I have rigged them up again. I thought that maybe there was some shorting last time, but speakers show 8 ohms of resistance. This time I've used banana plugs everywhere rather than connecting wire directly to equipment to reduce the possibility of shorts. I have a 5.1 channel system in operation in a similar setup for years and had no problems.
So, I've just recently had another blown channel (one channel in zone 2 this time). Seems to me that the product is faulty or I am doing something very wrong. Maybe i am turning up the volume too much (although I never go anywhere near the max on the front panel). Has anyone else had problems with this product? Is there an alternate robust product that does the same thing (without failing of course!).

Marantz products are usually pretty robust, but at only 60 watts it's entirely possible you may be placing too much demand on them. Are they well ventilated?

No, they are well ventilated (in an open rack). But the "blown" channel in zone 2 is now working. So maybe just a loose connection.... I'll have to wait and see..
