I have a friend (no really) who purchased Da Vinci home theater kit. It really looks primitive as far as the jacks that are in the back and the receiver is part of the subwoofer. Anybody have info on this stuff. They even have a web page, but I see no reviews.

Thanks.

If you go to the Da Vinci website there are testimonials (most in foreign languages) however, if the kit is spelled Di Vinci, it is unfortunately a knockoff- White Van Scam more than likely. I so, please feel free to contact me for further info

If he bought them he got what he deserved.

i had a look at the owners manual for the DV505 system. the sub goes all the way down to 50hz. I wonder how they achieved that.

Their AV receivers are even better. Read the descriptions, and then click the 'enlarged view' link. They have images of the back of the receiver. One of them doesn't even switch video, and none of them have digital inputs. But they're HDTV compatible!

lol. i was pitched to buy this system out the back of a jeep liberty just last week! i recognized the pitch right away so didnt even consider it, but i heard him out and checked out the gear, it looked like a cool enough system from the cover of the box. but again i recognized the "extra units" "heres the invoice showing the retail price" etc... but i acted interested just to see him get all excited, then told him my REAL system blows this out of the water but thanks anyway, lol.

By 1995, the DiVInci logo was on well over half the new speakers in Britain.

A slight exaggeration methinks.

Further to my previous post, I've now come across this.

Firstly, a quote relevant to the above . . .

"I visited recently with an old friend, a leading British audio writer, who upon seeing the eBay ads and the Divinci website first thought it was someone's idea of a joke -- his take in typical British understated fashion -- The claim that this logo was on half the speakers in Britain is rubbish, the products are so poor that they do not even rise to that level (rubbish), and the purveyors are simply scoundrels."

And for those in Pennsylvania . . .

In Pennsylvania, the act of selling white van speakers is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a fine of $10,000.

And finally . . .

Another recent technique is to parrot but not mimic, the names of reputable companies. For example, Genesis Media Labs is a white van scam name that trades on the American "Genesis" brand of loudspeakers, while DiVinci trades on the name of the Swiss "DaVinci" company.

For anyone interested, this is what Da Vinci Audio Labs do . . . something to lust after.

You should look at their receivers. They all boast 240W/CH. That is a crapload of power. One is 400W. If they really put out that much power they have solved cold fusion out of the back of a white van.
