I have heard that plasma can interfere with radio signals and am curious if that is true. I have a good friend with a handicapped child which requires several monitors in his home and he is looking into his first flat screen. I wanted to know if the Plasma interference rumor is true and if LCD has the same issues. Can anyone help?
Thank you,
Bob

could be thats how he remembers him RICHNWB...you know like i'm the fat bloke or your the guy with the big ears or he's the bloke who married to the large woman with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp etc ; )

Most cables AV cables supplied with plasmas have RF chokes on them thats to stop RF escaping from the cable thats probably where this myth has come from.
IR is an issue on some screens but i do not know of RF issues.

I was more concerned with a baby monitor....like an audio monitor. The child has swallowing issues and they need to listen pretty intently while the child naps to make sure he isnt choking.

Thanks for he help.
Thank you,
Bob

They do have problems with Infra Red signals, because the Plasmas themselves radiate so much infra -red energy...

You might like, Ask Jeeves... Is infra Red the Same frequency as Radio Frequency...
I think Infra-Red is a really high-frequency, whereas, Radio is lower on the food chain.

Probably not... but It wouldn't hurt to ask... Otherwise, why don't the just get a THIN LCD TV? They don't have radiation problems.

Actually, infra-red is a light wave. RF is radio frequency.

If you don't mind a TON of 'artifacts', LCD's aren't that bad ;-)

O.K., they look like crap(to me, anyway!).

I had a customer who bought a new plasma (Fujitsu 42 about 4 years ago) and his Bose remotes stopped working when the plasma was on. Finally RF interfarence is a good thing.

No, actually I made it through the 5th, like most CI guys, like yourself! The fifth grade was the hardest three years of my life!!!

Plasmas emit loadsof AM, but no FM to speak of, and every room monitor I have ever heard of uses FM.

Those of you who don't think plasmas emit RF, grab a portable AM radio and hold it anywhere near the plasma. Those chokes won's stop this as it comes out the front of the display.

P.S. Before you tell me there was no RF interference, remember to turn the radio on. That was for you, Mr Stanley.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
