Alright, here we go.Heres my problem.I just bought an N64 game console, and when i went to hook it up, it did nothing. I have my DVD player hooked up to the S-video on the back of the t.v., and it overrides the other video signals being sent to it.I was wondering,if I got a Video Switcher, and plugged them both into it,would the S-video still override the N64?I hope someone can help me,cause if not,I'm gonna have to unplug the S-video everytime I want to play a game(that would suck big time).I'll keep my fingers crossed.Any info. would be great.

Thanx in advance,
Marcus

You don't mention what make of TV you have. On my Sony TV there is a menu setting to switch from the Svideo input on VIDEO1 to the RCA composite input on VIDEO1. The set ignore whichever input is NOT selected, even if there is a video signal on both. Look into your TV's menu settings. It may be as simple as selecting the composite input from there.

Good luck,

Dave

Most TVs that have only one input, will block anything on the composite input if something is plugged into the S-Video jack. You could get the Sima Video switcher, it will take composite video sources and output to S-Video, and of course for those S-Video sources pass those right thru to the S-Video out. You just select which source you want. Also of note, that nintendo is S-Video capable (as all SNES and N64's are), you just need to buy the right cord. This cord will look just like the normal one, but it will have a S-Video plug instead of that composite plug. I would think most large game shops or large reatil chains like Best Buy would have these. I highly recommand getting one! Made a difference on my system.

David and Tim,

Thanx for the help. I went to Best Buy today and picked up a Sony video switcher and it didn't do what I wanted it to (like the sima does, i guess). The gumbie I talked to said it would, and he also told me that N64 was not S video capable. Looks like I picked the wrong guy to talk to. I'm gonna keep the switcher, and look for the S video for the N64. This way I can have my Webtv, DVD, and N64 all on S video. Oh yea, my TV is a JVC (about 5 yrs. old but still kick ass picture) and is not capable of switching between S video and composite. Sorry for not mentioning that Dave. Well, if I cant find the right wire for the N64 within a week or so, I guess I'll return the Sony and pony up the cash for the Sima. Either way, thanx a lot for your help guys. I guess I was just too impatient to wait for a reply to my question. Lesson learned

Thanx again,
marcus

I just got it today from Nintendo. It cost me 20$ including express shpping. None of the stores in my area carried one. I tried about 6. It works great. Well worth it. Thanx for the help.
