Does anyone know of or can suggest a good pc based infrared/x10 controler that has an activex, java, or a command prompt based interface? I am especially interesed in possibly supplimenting my pronto with a web style interface for IR/X10/MP3 style control. I would love to be able to build my own interface, ie. web page with personalized icons that could cue those commands and distribute them from a single pc.

Additionally this would allow a central web server to produce all commands and terminals local or remote of the home to control those functions....

Any suggestions or help is appreciated. I'll trade a programmer a Pronto for some kind of activex, java or command line frontend for the IR/X card from Applied Digital. Additionally, if you could use the same hex ir commands from the pronto's section I would be willing to pay. You keep the royalites and market your own code! Think of the market here!!! Bye Bye Crestron and Phast, there is a new web based interface for cheap... Add a touchscreen to your pc and you couldn't tell them apart!

[Link: appdig.com] or similar innexpensive isa or pci based controller....

Thanks a million!

Don't know if this is what you are looking for, but Joe Pasqua designed a java based program to convert the IR codes available on this site into a format readable by the Appdig CPUXA/Ocelot controller. I think you can download the java code and see what it does at:

Who knows maybe you could find a way to tie an Appdig Leopard touchsreen to your PC.

I would also take a look at the Nirvis Slink-E setup. It does Sony S-Link and IR control (7 IR zones). There is a free jukebox program for Sony Mega Changers (200 or 300 disc) called CDJ. There are also quite a few user written programs available for it.

It includes an ActiveX control that supports SLink, IR, X10 and CDJ (the jukebox program) control from VB or VBA.

BTW I've written a VB Pronto Hex to Slink-E format conversion function.

Check it out at http://www.nirvis.com
