Scott,

You should have bought one of the newer models. They come with "Dilithium Crystals" like have been mentioned so very often on Star Trek..

Have those babies, your liquid will stay nice and liquid.....

Maybe you can contact Capt. Kirk to see if your panel can be retro-fitted....?

It's interesting, isn't it? That plasmas apparently leak liquid although they are filled with gas. And nobody has any problems with LCD, filled with liquid.

And isn't it weird how shipments don't go by ship, and cargo doesn't go by car?

What's really funny is that you guys joining in on the joke, don't seem to have any clue what 'plasma' actually is.

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Tom I think your onto something....

We drive on parkways and park on driveways,

and can you make 55 cents out of 2 coins and 1 is not a nickle?? (can be done...I will post the answer in a bit...think about it...)

Most abundant blood portion. Yellowish liquid. That's why they can bleed on you. Try to have a little fun, automan. I know it's hard for you.

Also, whatever it is that comes out the back of starships in the Star Trek universe. Which is probably why the xenon and neon in a plasma TV is called plasma instead of Fluorescent TV. Besides, it doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I'd guess the other IS a nickel...

Some drive thru parking lots like they are freeways, but here during rush hour, the freeway is more like a parking lot...

Why would it be called fluorescent tv? Fluorescent lights don't have any xenon or neon in them. Try to be a little more intelligent, spooky, I know it's hard for you.

Wow, great rejoinder automan. Don't know if you think it's neat to reference the diseased holiday this weekend or if you are just attempting to join in the levity with a little 3rd grade action. Weak-ish, either way. (BTW, you meant knowledgeable, not intelligent, in this case)

Since you refuse to have fun normally....Here's 2 words. See how they apply to this. Perhaps they can help explain my last comment to you.

irony
vernacular

Oh, hell. Maybe you should look up fluorescent, too.

It's strange. I don't remember mentioning lights.......And now for some reason I'm wondering if there is any mercury in highlighter markers.

Why is it that a question asked about a technology few outside the home theater industry really understand and with genuine sincerety would receive more than twenty five posts containing nothing but sarcasm and smartass commentary?

If anyone even bothered to read my original post, I asked IF a ripoff was being perpetrated on home theater customers. The purpose of my question was to hopfully educate myself and others to prevent a potential ripoff, if such a ripoff was a reality.

Secondly, it is undisputable fact that there have been STORIES that plasma televisions leaked (as I noted in my original post). I've heard them off and on over the years, usually by a salesperson trying to steer me toward a purchase of his items. I asked a valid question about the history of what is arguably the most industry-changing and often misunderstood technologies ever and didn't get a single sincere response.

This is usually a community of professional people who try to help others by sharing their knowledge. What we've seen in this thread is a sad example of immaturity from people who have the knowledge to help others, but apparently can't be bothered to do more than make smartass commentary.

Well, frankly, I resemble that remark.

I think questions with some grain of truth to them that can be turned from the inaccurate to the accurate are dealt with profitably here.

Questions that are "urban legends" such as the plasma TV leaking are treated most often as this thread has been.

Note your own post where you credited the tidbit of wisdom to a salesman and you can pretty much write it off there.

Just hang loose. You'll get a lot more good here than you can believe. We've gotta have some fun sometimes. Integrating all this electronics can make you nutty if you can't have some fun along the way.
