Everyone is talking about the Tivo as a great way to get the programming you want to watch. The price just went down $100 to $399. I heard they lowered the price because Sony is coming out with a "Tivo" clone that is better quality and less money.

Anybody got any inside info?

Thanks :) David G

It is simply a Sony brand TiVo machine. It will record up to 30hrs. Due out in April for $399.

There are some past messages on these devices somewhere on this site. From what I remember, both Sony and Tivo are coming out with new devices in the Spring around the $400 price point. The Tivo device supposedly will work with DirectTV (or maybe Dish network), but will not have an MPEG2 decoder. So it can't convert cable to the digital signal. The Sony should handle both.

Search on the site for more in-depth info.
