I'm looking for some hook up help with my system to make sure I have it set up for optimal performance.

Technics receiver - Dolby ProLogic surround (no digital decoder)
Technics CD 5 disk
JVC 32 inch PIP TV
Sony DVD with built in Dig. decoder.
Bose AM 10 speaker system
JVC VCR

Of course I have the optical cable going directly from the DVD to the TV. My question really comes down to where should I have my DVD player hooked so that I take full advantages of the features of Dig. Dolby SS? Right now I have my VCR hooked in to the VCR 1 ports and the DVD in the VCR 2 ports. I don't have a specific DVD area on my receiver. Just the ususal, VCR 1, VCR 2, Tape /DCC, Phono, etc.

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

First, what model of TV is this JVC? I've not heard of a TV that has an optical digital audio input. Unless by optical you mean the video connection.

Secondly, if your receiver is one of the SA-Xx series, then you need to connect to the 6 (5.1)channel inputs from the 6 (5.1) channel outs on your player.
If its not a SA-Xx model, then I don't believe you have the proper inputs for full DD surround.

**note: The SA-Xx model being an US designation.

Give us the model #s so more specific research can be done.

I'm sure the forum will come up with something,

Paul
