CES 2005 has come and gone. Has anybody checked the new products and those that were given best show? Anything that may have caught your eye?

I'm surprised no one has anything to say about CES 2005. If your not sure what I'm talking about, check this link:

My favorite is the Toshiba HD-DVD recorder.
Since Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are still in a format war it is questionable whether it will take off.

I read somewhere that Big Business does not want HD DVD's on the market yet, as they are making too much money on the existing DVD format.

Here is the Toshiba:

Yeah, she was about 5'2", blond......OH, you mean about products?

Did notice that one of the Chinese speaker manufacturers is now setting up their very own distribution channel. They're going from being the OEM manufacturer for several brands, to being a direct competitor as well.

I have a feeling both formats will come out perhaps at the same time. They will compete until one comes out victorious.

Not to compare with DVD audio and SACD. Since both these formats are not sold to the masses, but rather to a bunch of audiophiles.

I am sure DVD-A and SACD were being created no one said "let's build something for the audiophiles that no one else would want". The problem is the rest of the world said we don't want them (probably because there was two competing formats)

I'm not sure about the US, but here in Canada, I would say 97% of the general population doesn't know these formats exist. Not much help from the companies trying to advertise their existance
