Does anyone know what companies still make a rear projection, 4:3, 40"-50" tv? I'm looking for a tabletop style, like the last Sony's, to fit in an armoir. Thanks for any help. Mark

Can't seem to find anything from Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, JVC, Samsung, LG, Philips or Hitachi. Can't even find anything at Walmart.
That's the problem with A/V furniture... it becomes obsolete as quickly as the electronics inside.

Thanks, guys. The armoir is 46" usable width. It seems like I looked away for a second, and everyone stopped making these sets! And I'm an installer, trying to help out a friend!

Well, for example, the Samsung HC-P4741W 47" widescreen CRT RPTV is 44.3" wide. In their DLP line the 50" HL-P5063W model is 46.5" wide (don't know how much slack you had in your 46"), or the 46" HL-P4674W is 40.6" wide.
I'm sure other companies have plenty of widescreen RPTVs under 46" wide as well.

Still no 4:3, though? They don't want 16:9...don't want the stretching or bars on the side. Thanks

Just get 'em a HDTV source and they won't notice. :-)
I coudn't see ANY 4:3 RPTV. Odd, really, they seem to have just dropped off the face of the planet. Even Sony's big 40" tube has been discontinued.

RPTV in 4:3 I was gonna say it went the way of the turntable, but you can still get them.
