What Edmund has refered you to is the programming and user manuals. What's he's implying is that with some studying of the manuals, a cable, the software and a little effort; you can program the 700 yourself.

[Link: universalremote.com] Yes I think the installer is feeding you a line of BS also. I'm a consumer and can atest that the MX700 can do about ANYTHING! You installer hasn't programmed your 700 correctly. They him we told you so!
Also, it's not a bad idea to learn how to program the 700 yourself. That way when the installer goes out of business, you're self sufficent. Read the manuals and ask questions here. Actually post your questions in the Home Theater Master forum. You'll get more responses there.
