I know the location and contact info for the Raleigh, NC "Office" of the White Van Speaker Salesman.....also the names of the owners, managers, amd maufacturers of these speakers, the Atlanta office has been closed down because the manager there was shot and killed at gunpoint (very unfortunate how far this can go, he was young and unsuspecting in the office) I also know the location of the Pittsburgh office as well,.......if anyone is interested in any information on speakers they've purchased in the south east, or PA......Kirsch, Diamond Audio, Theater Logic, Dyna Lab....Polermo (i think that's how it's spelled.who know's) I've never been scammed..........just trying to help make people aware

I THINK ITS GENIUS... AND YOU WOULDNT FIND OUT
THESE ARE SOME CHEAP SPEAKERS BY LISTENING TO THEM...

That's probably true, you would find that out by listening to OTHER SPEAKERS.

If you are accustomed to listening to cheap speakers and speakers that came as part of a package then these will probably sound ok to you. You are unable to determine what truly good sound is unless you have heard it before.

I bought some "Acoustic Monitor DBIV liquid cooled" speakers out of a van probably 7 years ago. They still work and I didn't think they were all that bad, I came across this thread after seeing if I could resell these "decent" speakers and how much I could get for them. They really had amazing bass, and the guys even let me hook them up prior to buying them. Yes I was scammed out of 150 bucks but I am actually happy overall with the purchase. I'm still glad I'm upgrading after reading these stories though. I was a gullible teenager, I'd never make this mistake again.

Seeing those Acoustic Monitor speakers really brought back memories. Back when they were being sold (about 13-14 years ago) i worked for a hi-fi retailer that also sold speaker components. We saw these things almost every day. The woofers had magnets smaller than most tweeters, the mid and treble controls were almost always burned out.
There was no crossover, just a couple of in-line capacitors. The standard fix was to bypass the controls entirely, replace all the drivers and install a basic crossover. This could be done for around $40 per speaker with components that were still vastly superior to the original units. Used to love telling people what they had bought. The company selling them used to land them in the country for $60 per pair and the cost per pair to the van driver was $200 per pair.

It is so sad that this thread still has new posts.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. Please learn that.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Well,
Like all of you, I let greed overcome commonsense. Damn!
I'll be kicking myself over this incident for a long time.
My story is similar to many of yours...walking in a shopping
area's parking lot (The Galleria in Rosville, CA), when
I was approached by two young white guys in a SUV. "We
work for a shipping company...accidently received extra
speakers from the shipping department...here's a magazine
article...blah blah blah." I should have known better.
If these speakers were such great deals, why weren't
these two guys giving the items to friends or family,
or selling it on EBay? Bogus claims and bogus advertisement.
Yeah, I bought the speakers and immediately regretted
doing so. I couldn't find the speakers at Best Buy.
Also, I went to Barnes and Nobles, flipped through several
Audio/Video magazines, and was unable to find that article
or magazine the two guys had shown me. After going onto
the internet and typing into google.com "theater logic
home cinema" my worst suspicions were confirmed. I just
got shafted. Anyone else in the Sacramento/Roseville,
CA area get taken by these two? One guys name was Aaron
and I don't remember the other guys. I realize the prospect
is pretty bleak, but I want my $$$ back.

I am a private investigator in Sacramento and am looking into this type of scam. If anyone has been victimized or otherwise approached in the greater Sacramento area by these subjects, anytime within the last few years, please email me. Thanks.

Afraid putting it here won't help you much, your local police department would be a better place to start.
