I cannot believe the "Greedy Morons that bought junk in a parking lot" thread is still going. You people are IDIOTS! This scam goes back to the early 80s with stereo speakers. You did not get ripped off. You thought you were ripping off someone else and now you are pissed that you did not get one over on them. Just go away and shut up and call it a lesson learned. Why would you buy ANYTHING from someone in a parking lot? IDIOTS! IDIOTS! IDIOTS!

Sorry to be so harsh but give me a break!

u all pros to this site .. well the ones that just got screwed arent pros cause if we were we wouldnt have got taken would we have.. so back off and think about how we can get scam artist like this locked up or even paid back in any way shape or form.

pissedoff, you are PO, but they did not do anything illegal, you were the one that decided on the BS they told you that those speakers were worth what you paid for them. The thing is you are PO because you thought you were buying high class stolen speakers for a great price.

Can't believe this thread is still going either! Nothing in life is free my friends, and if the deal looks to good to be true, it probably is! I know they're just cliches, but if you forget them, you lose $$$!

This scam is still going in western Pennsylvania. I didn't get taken, and I've never actually seen the infamous vans, but they're still running classified ads for drivers in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"Rock 'n Roll to the tune of $800-$1200 weekly. Audio co. seeks money motivated individuals to distribute sound systems. Company vehicle & paid training provided. Fun working atmosphere. Suit & tie, quiet & shy need not apply. Start immed. (724) 695-3414"

Doing a reverse phone number lookup on that number reveals this address:

Avalon Distributors Incorporated
307 High Tech Dr.
Oakdale, PA 15071-3911

Oakdale is just south of the Pittsburgh International Airport.

The only reason I found this forum was that I searched on the name to find out if the company was legitimate or not. I was *this* close to answering the ad, since I have student loans to pay off, I need a car, and I'm looking to get married, all of which require money, of course, and the job market for recent college grads in Pittsburgh isn't exactly what I'd call ideal.

Despite all of that, I don't think I could live with myself knowing that I was pulling shady (but legal, barely) sales out of the back of a freakin' cargo van. If I'm going to go to hell, it's going to be for something a lot more fun than that. :p

I had a friend purchase the Theater Logic L6 for $500 from a guy in a van in a Kingwood shopping center who said that he was an installer and was accidental shipped an extra one and could use a few extra bucks. He showed him the retail price of $2800 in a magazine so he jumped on it. I thought man.. those must be nice.. so I looked into it and found one on eBay and won the auction at $52 plus $30 for shipping... Then I knew something had to be wrong. I started looking them up on the Internet and cannot find much information on them and found this site with this tread in it. Anyway, I got mine in and they look nice and sound nice in non surround mode as I do not have a receiver for the 5.1 RCA inputs. The remote control kind of gave away the real quality of this item as cheap as it is. I don't feel that I have been taken, but I don't feel that I got a heck of a deal now. I will probably use them for my computer eventually when I can afford a total package system.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a relatively cheap DVD player or Receiver that I can buy to make some use out out of the 5.1 channels of this as I noticed there is no optical input and most DVD players do not have the RCA outputs these require

Thanks- Darrin

here's a tip for those who encountered the two young men in Austin TX (I-35 and Parmer by HEB/Home Depot);

DRIVING A DARK BLUE EXPLORER LICENCE PLATE: 12F HN3

i am not sure these guys are doing anything illegal, though! i don't think there is a law against taking advantage of people who make bad decisions!

i think the "black tulip" approach is most appropriate in cases like this

hook them up to a computer with a 6 channel sound card. its your only hope, the amplifier design in these speakers are old and crappy, and void of any processing.

happened to me in sacramento for 110. It was the magazine that did the trick. I figured who would go through all the trouble of printing their own mag. I would sell em for double what i paid. I was just looking up actual value so that I could show whoever im going to resell them to what they are worth. I guess thats not going to happen. Ill still sell them for double though. Anyone on here want to buy some speakers for $220
