Does anybody have any feedback on Aura Bass Shakers. Smarthome had them for sale at a rediculous price.

I am reconstructing my HT in a dedicated room and thought it would be a good idea to add them under the chairs in addition to my NHT powered sub. I had experienced the Clark Synthesis transducers and was impressed.

How are these connected to the recv'r if I already have a sub? How much power do they need? Amplifier recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Mike,

The Auras are junk. Plain and simple. The Clarks are way overkill. Your best buy is the RBH FX-80; They are about $80.00 ea. and much more precise in Frequency reproduction and more reliable as far as power handling. Get more info at:

[Link: rbhsound.com]

You'll need another Amp (100 wpc minimum)and a "Y" Cord to split the pre amped Sub Woofer signal

Want some advice tempered with 23 experience? I'll be glad to steer you straight.

Took a look at the attached link.

I assume discrete output devices refers to being able to select the source device. How is that ocnfigured with a HT setup where switching is done with the AV recv'r? Are the shakers/amp on all the time? or do they need to be manually selected? IR remote controllable?

If you can afford it, get the Clark Synthesis Tactiles. I have had two of them in my couch for about Three Months now (Amplified by a Carvin Receiver). They sound amazing! I auditioned the Aura Bass Shakers right along with the Clark's and difference was night and day. You could'nt even hear any dynamics out of the Aura's. The music was gone. It just sounded like a really powerful vibrator. Do yourself a favor and save up for the Clarks.

I tried the small Aura's, with 2 screwed to the frame of my sofa, and a 200 w/c amp driving them. It wasn't very impressive, and I disconnected them soon.
