I am looking for the best pricing on new B&W 801 and 802 speakers. I'm not looking for technical assistance, or advice, just a best price either in the Washington DC area, or by Internet/Mail order companies . . . Any leads appreciated.

Unfortunately, Myer Enco is the only game in town for B&W speakers and they discount VERY little (like almost nothing). Be prepared to pay close to list price.

I bet the local emporeums just love the guys who responded to your question. EVERYTHING IS AVAILABLE DISCOUNTED. IF YOU DON'T GET at least20% you are being taken. Get on the net and find one of the half dozen places that will sell you new stuff at a discount.

Hello Wild Bill. You are right in that Myer Emco discounts very little. The ME store in Fairfax did have a sale about three weeks ago and the B&W speakers were discounted about 10%. Call them at 703-803-9400.

Roger,

You are correct on most components. However, if you had done your homework on B&W speakers you would have found out that you are incorrect in your assessment. B&W speakers ARE NOT sold online and discounts are difficult to find and are 10% at best. If you want a discount on B%Ws you should try to purchase demos or slightly used models.

cai: How are you? Send me an e-mail and we'll catch up. There will be another HT gathering at my home soon and you of course, are invited. I think I have some things you didn't see and hear last time. :)

Bill,

I have done my homework. You should try doing the same. I know of four places on the net to get B&W's at 20% or better. Just because a company has the policy of strong arming it's dealers into fixing prices doesn't mean that there are not individuals and companies that will fight this questionable tactic. Since you are such and expert on homework you certainly must know that the British distribution system of appliances of all kinds is just waking up from a history of price-fixing that has cost the Brits billions. We are better off here but in some areas where people feel they must unquestionably believe what they read. Do your homework, stop listening to a company that just wants to increase its profit margin by price-fixing and get on the net and find these brave retailers who want to compete for your business.

Hm, assuming Amazon is doing this legitimately, it's certainly an interesting change of position for B&W...

However, all of Amazon's prices are list (or $0.01 less?), right? That's not very cool.

Argh! _Now_ I know what 1-click ordering does, and I turned it off ASAP! Was trying to see how much they charged for shipping on an ASW-2000 (approx $50 for 96lbs) and I accidentally ordered it! I don't really need another one :)

My local dealer wanted $350 for the CC6 (center).
He wouldn't budge off that price, but did agree to pay my sales tax(5%) WOW !!

Ordered the CC6 at Amazon...$299 + $26 s/h.
Saved alittle!

To all:
Everyone replying to this email knows that B&W speakers are some of the finest. The speakers that they compete with are always 1 1/2 to 4x's their price. The dealers know this, which is why they hardly budge on B&W speakers. The company that I work for is the largest B&W seller in the United States. If any of you are interested in a pair of B&W's, no matter what model, I can offer them at a great price. Feel free to email me for info.

PS. Doug, make sure that you got the CC6 series 2 center channel. If you didn't you got ripped off hard core!!!! The original CC6 has been discontinued. You can tell what version you have by looking at the tweeter. If it is silver, then you got the series 2. If it looks gold, then you got something to say to Amazon.
