i need someones advice please....
while there is no direct button for midnight mode on a DSP-A1, I realize that it can be done via the setup menu...My question is: Does the LFE level also need to be adjusted or just the dynamic range? I'm attempting to set this unit up to be as close as possible to THX standards so I need all the info I can get...If anyone has come close, please respond.....

How do you mean? Dynamic range just reduces the "level" between normal dialogue and movie-style explosions and what not. Subwoofer output SHOULD be adjusted along with that -- otherwise it sort of defeats the whole purpose. :-)

You're touching on 2 very different subjects. Dynamic Compression or "Midnight Mode" just reduces the dB range so that lows are louder and highs are softer.

Now this has little to do with THX standards. Unless you're referring to the fact the Cinema ReQ feature of THX roles off the high end a little because soundtracks tend to be a little bright.
