Does anyone out there agree with me that RGB although the colour is good the picture tends to be very soft focus, so have tended to use S-Video. I am using Sony 525 and a Panasonic wide-screen if anybody out there finds similar I would like to here from you.

According to Video Essentials, DVD video is recorded in three component channels (Y, Cr, Cb -- not RGB). For the best possible video reproduction, the component signals should be passed directly from your DVD player to the TV over separate cables.
S-Video, which combines the two color components together (hence it is referred to as Y/C), is the next best choice. This is because there is additional encoding and decoding on both ends which can reduce quality.
The absolute anti-Christ for video reproduction is the single, composite RCA video cable.
That said, I suggest you go with whatever gives you the best picture.
