Now, I am really resurrecting an old thread.   I am still using the VR-507 and my original remote works but like another poster wrote the plastic has sort of become corroded, perhaps from wiping it down with windex.   Anyway, like to find a relatively inexpensive universal learning remote I could transfer the codes too.   The problem is that it has so many unique buttons, Video 3 input, speakers, etc...   Any suggestions ?

One thing that would be really helpful would be a way to program a toggle for the input selector control,   I have them all as separate buttons on the original remote, but I wish I could assign them to one button on universal remote to toggle through

Don't know if anyone is looking after 15 years - but I just did the solder fix as described and my VR-506 is happily and reliably responding to the remote again.
Thank You!!!
