I have an Pioneer VSX-D606S Receiver that works great. But, there is always a but. When the furnace turns on there is an annoying "zzzt" coming from the speaker for a split second (very diturbing). I have tried changing plugs, upgrading the speaker wiring and upgrading the powerbar. Still there. Any solutions?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like line noise. Best I can suggest is to try putting the receiver onto the opposite phase -- this may require moving the circuit breaker to another location. You may also consider a line filter/UPS (perhaps one of those expensive in-line models).

You could always turn off the furnace during your critical listening times. Mine doesn't make any line noise, but the expansion and contraction of ducts in my old house drove me to near insanity. I would seriously turn off the furnace 1/2 hour before I wanted a good audio or movie session, and grab a blanket. My new house is much quieter, than God.

As a last resort, see if you can trace the source of the noise to a relay or switch in the furnace/thermostat. Looking for the cause and fixing it is often easier than eliminating the symptoms. A new thermostat might be your ticket.

Brian,
A short period of noise when the furnace turns on sounds like an electronic ignition unit on your furnace. In addition to the above comments you might try a noise blocking AC line filter at the furnace. Also check the ignition unit for proper installation and connections.
