I am thinking about buying the 55" 16:9 Platinum Mitsubishi.
Does anyone have any opinions or similar products I should consider?

The Mitsubishi WS55805 (Wide-screen 55" 805 series) HD upgradeable set is probably the best set out there for the money. This unit has been compared to ones by Zenith/Inteq, Toshiba, and Hitachi, and this unit faired better than the rest. In terms of customer features and benefits, you really can't beat the Mitsu, especially when you play around with all the PIP and POP options. I highly do recommend having this set calibrated by a certified ISF technician to truly bring out the best picture possible.
Jason, have you heard about the WS55905?? It's the Diamond line unit by Mitsubishi. This set differs in that it has a much nicer laquer finish and special EDF (enhanced depth of field) lenses, bringing you a more 3-dimensional picture.
