If I use the component video switcher in my AV Reciever, will it switch S-Video too? In other words with a single component cable running from my receiver to my TV will I be able to view sources using S-Video connections into the receiver, or will I need another S-Video cable running from the receiver into the TV?

Thanks, hope this makes sense :)

In addition to the svideo into the receiver you need the svideo out to the tv as well. Your receiver probably will use component our first if available, Svideo if component is not available, and thirdly Video if available based upon input to the reciever. (comp auto to comp out if available etc.) I do not believe it will move a signal up, i.e. svideo to component. Only down to the best output available to it.

Bryan,

I agree with mike b. most receivers are not going to alter the signals, but rather just pass them. This means for each type of video signal, (component, s-video, composite) you need an out from the receiver to an in to the tv.

I might suggest this, consider running the best output directly to the tv and not go through the receiver at all. Which device will do a better job, a tv that is only about video, or an audio component that has to try to do it all. And at a price point!!

I usually hook everything up through the receiver on s or composite, then allow for a "best" viewing option like component, which requires you also change inputs on the tv. A good remote with macros can sinplify this.

Happy hookup!

Thx,Paul.

I also agree with Bryan. I hook my DVD direct up to the dvd component in on my tv..
