I’m thinking of buying an amp to connect my Creative labs dxr3 DVD player to. Does anyone know what type of lead I need to connect from my DXR3 MPEG card to a Sony STR-DB930 amp? So that I will get AC3 sound. It would be very useful if anyone knows of an Internet site where I could purchase the lead required.

Thanks in advance

You need two cables. A composite or S-Video cable to carry the video signal and a coaxial cable to carry the AC3 signal. In my house the audio rack is about 75 feet froom my PC. I bought a roll of RG6 coaxial cable, cut two pieces to length, terminated each end with F connectors, and screwed F to RCA adapters in the ends. Retail cost for these parts is about $35 and they are readily available at your local Radio Shack or radioshack.com. Make certain you purchase an AC3 receiver with at least one coaxial digital input.

Simon, I have a Sony DB930 connected to a DXR3 with just a 12ft dual phono lead. One connects the Video switched through to the TV and the other to the DD coaxial input. Gives Great pic and sound. I'm sure people will say I should have svhs lead etc and I will probably get around to it but like I say it seems faultless as it is.
BTW I'm using zone selector and HW+ 1.8 driver (loaded over 1.5 & 1.7) so it connects to my VCR too.
I can reccomend the DB930. It works well.

Thanks for the replies. They were very helpful. Ive tried using a s-video cable conecting my card to the s-video input in the front of my sony widescreen TV. I get no picture when connecting this way. I have had no problems when connecting to my TV with the supplied phono lead.I would like to use S-video as I imagine the picture quality is even better.
