I have a 3 year old Toshiba 50f60 RPTV. It has digital convergence with a big set of crosshairs in the middle. The newer versions of this TV also have 9 point convergence all over the screen in addition to the main one.

I remember once hearing that there was a way to access (via secret code or something) a multipoint convergence, something used by the technicians to more properly calibrate and converge the CRT guns. Does anybody know the secret to accessing this? I can tell there are corners on my TV that don't converge properly, and would like to adjust myself, without paying 200+ dollars to have a technician come over.

thanks,
Mitch

When doing full convergence settings on a Projection set, you run into a lot more adjustments than you have when you do a user level converge.

To set corner adjustments, you often have to adjust keystone, pincushion, h/v swew as well as raster size for each gun. Its not tought if you know what you are doing, but if you don't, you will likely screw things up worse than they are now.

I would suggest paying a 'pro' to do it if you are not one yourself.

I concur with Derek. The ISF tech I had come over spent about an hour and half dealing with my drift problem, as well as recalibrating it.

It was well worth the $275.

Especially after the clueless warranty service tech tried to just adjust my set with just the consumer convergence controls and then tell that's best it will get and they're never perfect anyway.

I had EXACTLY the same experience with service technicians as you cootoff. Sooner or later when other goodies have been purchased I will get around to an ISF calibration for my Toshiba 40W80
RPTV. My corners are a litle out of focus also

Don't expect too much in the corners on RPTV's. True some fine tuning can help but on most units I've seen, the lenses are so wide angle to maintain the shallow cabinet depth that clear focused convergence into the corners just isn't like a good front projector.
