I have a new Sony 35" w/2-tuner PIP. The problem I have is utilizing this feature. I have the cable from the wall going to the cable box-in (I get all scrambled and unscrambled channels), cable-out to VCR-in, and VCR-out to TV-in. The TV is set to channel 3 for viewing the cable stations. Whenever I run PIP, it's the same channel on both large screen and PIP screen. I'm looking for suggestions on how I can utilize PIP effectively and easily with the type of setup that I have.
Thanks to all responding!

The problem lies with the Cable Box. (I hate the stupid things!!)

In order for you to record a TV broadcast, do you have to set the VCR to Ch 3, and then set the channel on the cable box? If so (and this is likely) you are going to be out of luck for PIP with 2 channels.

If you can get any channels by running from the wall directly into the tv, or from an antenna, you may be able to connect directly to Ant B and then change PIP channels that way.

I guess you could also get a second cable box for your PIP...

Gets to be a large pain in the butt...

Good luck

N-vision is right. You are completely ignoring the tuner abilities of your TV when you use a cable box, or for that matter, a DSS receiver. In your case it's the cable box that is doing the "tuning" for you, and not the TV. Your cable provider may only require the cable box to unscramble the scrambled channels. If you can hook directly from the wall cable jack to your TV's cable input and see stations on channels other than 3 (or 4) then you'll be able to tune to any of them seperately with your PIP tuner.

If your cable box has seperate audio and video (RCA) outputs, then you could try this...

Get a cable signal splitter (one in, two out) from radio shack and use it to split the one cable line into two. Take one of these and hook it into the cable box. Use the A/V outputs of the cable box and go to the A/V inputs (Video1) of your TV (or VCR then TV). Use the other cable and hook it directly to the cable input on your TV. Your TV's tuner(s) will tune the unscrambled cable channels, and you can set it's input to VIDEO1 to watch channels from the cable box.

Good luck.

Dave
