I would appreciate any recommendations. How does Acoustic Research compare with Monster??? It looks like the AR's are priced cheaper. How about Phoenix Gold??? I am on a limited budget and have several Monster interconnects right now.

Please help, with good but inexpensive cables.

Since you're already talking Monster, AR or Phoenix, any one will sound better than Radio Shack.Of which I still use a few. Cable upgrading can be as expensive as component upgrading.I've probably spent at least $700 on cables.

And unless you're connecting reference components, like most of are not, the difference between the brands mentioned is negligible.

I personally like Monster and Straight Wire.

Optical or Coax? I suggest coax because it's a more secure connection and kinking is less of a problem with the thicker construction of a coax cable.

My motto, buy the best you can afford, it's all a step toward the perfect sound.

I'm sure there will be other thoughts passed on.
