I am considering trading in my DSP-A1 for the DENON 5700. Any opinions? I like the Vienna Acoustics line of speakers. Which would be the better match ? . The 5 channel mode of the 5700 is excellent , can I get a similar result by programming the Yamaha sound fields?

Stay with the Yamaha!! The amp section is far superior. The DSP modes are fun to play with but sonically degradeing. Has plenty of output and inputs, but lacks the component switching abilities of some of the newer units on the scene. You can tweak the settings of the dsp-amp1 to match thx standards. Also with a simple speaker selector you can set your amp up to use dipole and standard speakers for rear effect on movies and music. A=dipole, B=standard, A+B= both. The amp can easily handle a two ohm load.(Mine has ran that way for over 6 months when I purchased new.) Good luck in your decision makeing, but for me the choice is simple.

Thanks LISNUP,Yamaha must have been able to match
the THX specs if they wanted to , with or without THX approval. Are you certain that the THX standards sound better than DSP-A1 presets?
If so, do you have the THX info so I can try and compare? .

Is tweaking the DSP-A1 to THX standards
desireable , or do Yamaha's presets sound better?

Is that the same for the DSP-A2 as well?

I traded my DSP-A1 for the 5700 8 months ago. It was a good decision. Component switching, easier to use, great 5 channel stereo, no unwanted/never used DSP's, high power & bass management, etc, etc.

Thanks J. Do you think the stereo sound quality
is superior on th 5700? What kind of speakers are you using with it? How much do you think I should ask for the DSP-A1?
