I have a Hughes TIVO sat. receiver and just added a Sony STR-K502 audio/video receiver. Now I am the proud owner of 4 remotes. Could someone give me an idea on what remote I should purchase to become a one remote man. I also have a wife who does not want to be challenged by the remote. Thanks [email protected]

The Phillips Pronto is your best bet. The TSU2000. It is infinitely customizable and wife friendly. I have 2 (one on my main floor and one in my theater) and my wife loves them. Mine controls 2 receivers, 1 DVD player, 2 VCR's, 3 sat receivers, 1 CD player and all my lights. You can usually find it for around $250. Go to the pronto forum here for more info.

Unless you like buttons on your remote. Then one of the favorites around here is the MX-500, esp for Tivo's many buttons. Try the Home Theater Master forum here for lots of info. It can be found for as little as $110.

The Philips Pronto is "The" remote if you are willing to take the time to design your layout. With the right design it can be extremely user friendly.

I have to say the MX500 seems to be a favorite, not only around this forum, but for TiVo users in general. It has a nice directional/rocker panel type button similar to the standard remote that comes with a Phillips and Sony TiVo, so if you do it right, the MX500 is very easy to get used to and it will antique all your OEM remotes.

I have a Pronto (the original model) and it is a great remote. You might also want to look at the Marantz RC5200 or RC9200 or Pronto Pro, that are in the same line. If you don't want a touch screen remote, then there is HTM's MX500 that has a good reputation and the harmony remote. All of these remotes are very different the one from the other, so it is more a matter of personal preferences then any thing else.

Check out the MX-700 as well. Very easy PC programming and all of the great ergomonics of the MX-500.
