Does the Monster Cable HT3500 sound better than the HT800?

Hi Martin,

Please excuse my ignorance, are we talking about "power-bars" and which "sounds" better than the other? Can the various Monster Cable & Panamax strips play that vital & audible a role, so far as to impact sound quality within the 20Hz-20Khz human hearing range? Man, I guess I have a lot more to learn.Interested in the answers you get though!

Can't make the comparison, but I have the 3500 in my system, and it does make a difference. Monster isn't usually discounted, but www.globe-mart.com sells the 3500 for $275, versus $400 list.

Hi Frank,
I switched from a typical Power-Bar to the monster
HT800 and did hear a subtle but distinct difference. Improved intelligibility and a bigger sense of space. There was less background noise.I
didn't know there was anything missing from my system until I tried the line conditioner. I am a bit more confident in my system now.

Thanks Tweakman,
As you can see in my reply to Frank I own the HT800 and am happy with the performance.I am
curious if the HT3500 is just more bells and whistles or an improvement in sound quality.
It certainly has some cool factor when it comes to design .Thanks for the low price tip!

Martin,
Yeah, I admit the retro look of the 3500 was a factor in my choice; blue-lit analog meter, gold pushbuttons, exposed screw heads. It also has a sequenced outlet (turns on last and turns off first) which I use for my subwoofer amp. Tell you what, you sell your 800 to Frank, I'll sell you my 3500 and I'll buy a 5000!

Martin, Tweakman

Very interesting! But I think I'll stick with my
Panamax 6. When I fix-up the basement & move to separates EG Lexicon + 7 or 8 AMPS! (in my dreams)
I'll pick up the HTS5000 !
Thanks Guys!

P.S. What do you think about THX software on NON-THX systems? Do you notice any differences?

HTS5000 has 5 filter sections vs 4 in the 3500; same 10 outlets, but they can be selected to be always on, switched or delayed; 2775 joules vs 1300 for 3500; outlet on front, and apparently better filters. The 5000 is just $370 at www.global-mart.com; maybe if I leave an ad laying around, the wife will get me one for Xmas! What's the new Bond movie, "The World is not Enough?" I know that's true for us audiophile/videophile types.

Global-Mart has the best price on the HTS5000, but they are backordering 2-3 weeks: no deliveries for Christmas.
