Okay. So I've been having a lot of trouble accessing the Marantz America Web site (www.marantzamerica.com) lately. It's been down a lot or has been sluggish in its responses. I can only assume they're having trouble or are in the process of upgrading. (I wish they'd employ me to re-design thing. I own a Web Dev company.. but that's another story..)

So anyway, today I try to access it. This time it responds very quickly. Strangely, though, instead of the Marantz Website coming up, I get the homepage for Velodyne Accoustics!

I thought, perhaps, this was a DNS problem with my ISP, so I tried another ISP and had the same response.

How is Marantz related to Velodyne?

How odd :)

Hmm, maybe so -- but early today I was unable to access it. Now I can, but it's very very slow. I doubt this is part of an upgrade... seems more related to 'technical difficulties'.

Marantz is a division of North American Philips and is NO relation to Velodyne. I checked out their site just now and it worked fine...

I learned that, around the time the uptime problems began, they moved to a new server. Note this is not their own server. The thing had a hard time staying up. Then, one day, instead of Marantz America, an old version of Velodyne Accoustics' page came up. Yes, I confirmed this. Strange, but true.

Seems to be back in business now. They'll probably integrate with the new Marantz.com site in the near future -- at least there'd be a higher chance of it being kept up-to-date. :-)

Thanks, Daniel, for your response and your confirmation of this. It struck me as being really strange as I saw no relationship between the companies. It's just a fluke that the company hosting Marantz is also hosting Velodyne. Kind of amusing in a sick way :)

Actually, here's the odd part -- the company hosting Marantz is NOT the same company hosting Velodyne! Not even the same part of the country! One for the books, if you ask me...
