I'll try this here as DVD Chat seems a dead loss!

I have a philips DVD with componant out video, as well as s-video and composite.

I know componant is the best connection to my Loewe WS however I have read that that the YUV should be sync with the CVBS (composite signal) my Loewe allows for either a sync off the Y or CVBS I can see no viewing difference with either.

Any tech type person able to elaborate on the above.

In no particular order:

A) That's where the differing opinions about whether or not different connections make a visible difference come from.

B) The simple answer is that, if you see no difference, go with whichever connection requires fewer cables.

C) I'd recommend waiting for other responses, since I use composite, because my pre-pro has only composite jacks and switching. (Hey, I can't be an expert at EVERYthing, y'know!)

It really depends on the quality of the comb filter in your television and/or DVD player. If your comb filter is better in the TV then use composite video, if it's better in the DVD then use YC.

Or something along those lines. I have seen better pictures using composite over YC.

I've seen a direct difference between each type. Composite is OK. S-Video makes the picture more clear and detailed, making edges clearer. Eg, you can have video-game text without that multi-coloured interference on the edges of the letters. But the colours are still washed-out compared to component.
