Hello, I an new at this.

I have the following equipment, and I am looking for a remote control that will work best for me. I have tried some univerals from Best Buy, but found them not to give me full control of the surround sound system.
So, I am looking to fully control the SS, then the other equipment. Plus marco's! Also need room to grow (other equipment add-ons.)

1. Aiwia surrond sound system.
2. vcr
3. tv
4.cable box
5. dvd player.

thanks,
Hunter

The pronto TSU2000 is a reliable, flexible, totally customizable remote. It took the place of 14 remote controls in my house. When you begin to program it for the first time it can be somewhat challenging and overwhelming. Once you understand the programming logic, it's a breeze. As for surround, you can program as many buttons into the unit that you need. Home theater systems are so complex these days it's nice to have a tool like the pronto to manage it all.

I would totally agree with Greg, I have one and it is the best remote I have ever used! Don't be intimated by it, you can probably download everything you need from the files area of this website, and if you upgrade you know your remote will work.

Good Luck,
Don

Here is a link to the Pronto's review [Link: remotecentral.com]
it is a great remote that I have no problems recommending.

If you are not a touch screen type of person you might want to look at the MX-500
[Link: remotecentral.com]

and if you want cheaper less $$ there is the Sony [Link: remotecentral.com]

Even though the price of the Pronto is higher I consider it a very good value, when you look at capacity and custumization it is in a league of its own. look here for an idea of what you will be able to do [Link: remotecentral.com]

Save your money, but a Radio Shack 15-1994, It'll do it all, or learn it all, $30.

If you want a remote that is devoid of any buttons and
is a full LCD layout with full learning capability and
customizeable (not drawable) buttons. Then I think you
should check out the Crisp Solutions UC515 or the Sima
SUR-20 (same remote, Mfd by the same company just 2
diffrent names)

My SUR-20 is controlling:

RCA 61" RP TV
Phillips Dolby Pro-Logic Bookshelf
Phillips VCR+ 4 head
Sony DVP S-360 DVD
X-10 Lighting

It learned everything I could throw at it!

I forgot to add that it does have full Surround and
DSP control buttons on the AMP Screen.

For those who like using remotes without looking at them EVERY time you need to push a button, try the MX-500 from Home Theater Master.
