Brett,

I own a pair of AR-1 towers and an AR-2C center channel speakers. I like the speakers alot, my main reason for going with them (other than I like the sound) was the 15" sub with 500 watt amp in the towers. I have a small room for HT and didn't have space for a dedicated sub.

One thing you should know. AR has a policy of only honoring the warrantee if the speakers are purchased from an authorized dealer. Although this is unfortunately not uncommon, AR makes no mention of this on their web site or anywhere else that I know of except in the terms and provisions in the owners manual. I also know of no "authorized" e-tailors. This information was true as of a year ago, although things might have changed. I don't believe AR was "up front" about it's warrantee policy, and if you're looking for a deep discount on the web, understand you may be without a warrantee.

Best wishes,

Jim L

Bomber Jim,

I bought my AR216PS's at Sears and I bought the AR22CH
off of ebay from "Accesories4Less" they are the only
internet autorized AR dealer (I looked at AR's web site to verify)

Thanks for the info!

Those AR1's are sweet.. I thought about getting all the
Hi Res series but I didn't like the idea of down firing
woofers in the center channel. I was worried that the
bass would shake the screen on my RPTV so I went with
the Performance Series (which matches my satelites)and
it doesn't have the down firing woofers, Just 2 5.25
front firing mids and a centraly placed 1" poly tweet.

Now when I go with new front stages I will probably go
with AR9's or Stature Series S50's and a dedicated sub.

Even though the 3 seperate series are not "timbre"
matched sets they still should have very similar voice
footprints due to identicle cabinet designs and layout.
