I am considering buying an SVHS VCR. And I know it wont clean up video from standard VHS tapes. But does it have any improvement on TV broadcasts? I am assuming it doesnt. But I figured I would ask. Nick

The tuner will probably look the same, unless you use the S-Video output... should look a bit sharper, especially on big TVs.

You *will* see an improvement in recording quality -- SP looks just like the original broadcast, while EP looks just as good as standard VHS SP.

Nick!! and all others!
Forget about recording with VCR's, SVHS VCRS, Digital VCRS (big bucks!!) Just pick up the new Philips Tivo Personal Tv system!! It records digitally (MPEG2 compression, same as DVD standard!), can record up to 30 hrs (standard mode, bout 9 in DVD quality). It previews all of your local, cable and satellite programs 2 weeks in advance (for recording what and when). And the coolest feature, well.. you can pause in the middle of a live broadcast and watch it later!@!! Say you are watching Frasier, and the phone rings, you pause the Tivo, talk on the phone (up to 30 min memory with pause) and then hit play again.. it will start right where you paused it!!you can do that especially with sports, pause, rewind and play back slow motion!! no more announcers and tv crew showing you replay when they want, but whenever you want!! Want more info?? Email me!!!
