decided to start a new thread about this topic...
David B mentioned the Sima SVS-4 in another thread ("rookie..."), and it just so happens I was looking for just such a device.
I had a few questions about the Sima --- can you disable the 'auto select' mode? can you disable the 'volume stabilization' feature? do the 2 outputs have the same signal or can you select a different source for each? does it have more than one I/R 'channel', i.e. if I bought 2 of them, could I control them independently?
I was also wondering if anyone had opinions/experience with similar products. I'd like to find something with more than 4 inputs, and digital audio (TOSLINK) switching would be great to have as well.
So far I've found the RCA 6-way switch (about the same price as the sima, but I'm a bit worried about the quality) and the JVC JXS700 which looks like a bit of overkill for this application - I might be willing to pay $400+ if it supported digital audio switching, but I assume it does not since the specs don't mention it.

Hi; on the Sima SVS-4 yes you can turn off Auto Select mode and the Volume Stabilization feature. But both outputs are the same.Don't believe it has the IR channel feature.
