I have a Sony K502P receiver with a RM-U305 remote - works fine. I got a Sony DE445 that is missing the remote. The 305 operates both receivers.
But I need another remote. No problem! I have a spare.
The spare is a Sony RM-U306 (at the bottom it says "AV System2"). It won't operate either receiver other than shutting them off if you press both off buttons at the same time. I could swear that the 306 used to operate the 502, but then stopped working.
I'm guessing the 306 could be in AV2 mode. Can it be switched back to AV1? The sticker on the back says to make sure the command modes of the receiver and remote are the same (AV1 or AV2). But I haven't found any instructions on how to do that. Or is the 306 permanently in AV2 mode?
