The Volume + button on my Sony RM-VL710 keeps sticking -- that is, when releasing the button, it stays in the depressed position. I've thought about taking it apart to try to clean it, but thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone can give me some advice.
I'd hate to take it apart only to find that it's almost impossible to put back together.

Cleaning it will probably help the stickiness, but in doing so it may becomes less responsive (or even non-responsive) due to reduced conductivity. You may need to also do the window defogger trick.

Took it apart and cleaned it, put it back together and all seems fine. The Vol+ doesn't stick anymore, and the other buttons I've tried are working fine.
I have a couple residual questions.
What the heck is the window defogger trick?
There was a greasy residue on the side of the board facing the button membrane. Is that some kind of grease applied at the factory to promote conductivity? Rather than clean it off using a solvent, I just wiped it clean with a paper towel.
