got ir widget to work.. here is my capture for pre+ from the RMT CF1A remote that came with the tuner: (device 26.19), hex =BC, OBC = 61 ... 40.1k,599,msb}<1,-1|2,-1>(4,-1,A:20,-19)+{A=$BCBC8}; Alt leadout form: ^45m

the tracing looks different than the one produced in my sonance manager software from the makehex codes I posted...

I am going to try and make corresponding pronto hex code and see what it does... Will IR scope do this???

will try and get remote to work next and see what code I back out..

this is the data from capturing the RMT CF1A remote with IR that came with the tuner for pre+ command... using IR widget..... the waveform looks different than the one from makehex and the ones I was told were "captured" and I posted initially. I am going to try and back out captured code from my RCRP05B

ok.. not that different when comparing the codes.. also backed out code from rcrp05b... they are not too different.. only difference is frequency in IR scope was 40.1, freq in sonance with input of makehex code was 39.9.. also zero and "off" time intervals are 602 microsec in sonance when viewing makehex code.. in ir scope, zero interval is 598 microsec and off interval is 602... IR.exe shows freq of 39.8.... I am assuming these are all within acceptable error... who knows.. will check system one more time.. just about ready to give up.... not sure if it could be the number of repeats = 1 in the sonance software.. maybe need to set this to zero???
again thx for the help.. looks like I need to sort this out with sonance as I have 2 other controllers that can control the tuner....

The differences in frequency are not important, nor is the exact timing of the lead in or lead out important.

So I think trying different repeats makes sense. With a handheld remote, most of us tend to hold the button until we get a response.

could it be that the IR reciever on the sony tuner is not sensitive enough to pick up the (presumed) weaker signal coming out of the IR transmitter from the sonance...

I ask this question because I tried to pick up the signal coming out of the IR transmitter from the sonance to the sony and was unable to pick it up (i.e. learn or capture it) with one of the learner remotes (I tried this last week before I had IR widget). I also tried the same thing on the IR transmitter from the sonance to my dennon cd player and the direct TV box and was unable to get a learned signal from any of these transmitters/eyes (however the dennon and direct TV box work so I know something is going through them).

Are these IR transmitter signals/eyes weaker than the handheld remotes?? Is there a way to boost the signal if needed???

I think the macro may work, but the tuner is not picking it up (i.e. less sensitive IR reciever in the sony)... (I also tried putting in a pause before and after the signal in the macro to make sure the signal was coming in clean)....

again.. I now have two learner remotes, both the logitech and the RCA JP1 which can control the tuner....
thanks

Generally, for a learning remote to learn, it needs to receive at least two consecutive IR signals. The learner remote uses the beginning of the second signal to define the length of the leadout. This is particularily important with Sony signals, where Sony12, Sony15 and Sony20 all have the same form, excepting the number of bits in the signal. If the Sonance is only sending one signal with no repeats, then the learners may have difficulty. Note that components themselves already know what kind of signal they are looking for, so they typically recognize a single signal.

However, with the RCRP05B and cable, you can load the XDRF1HD upgrade , prove that it controls the XRD, and then use the Widget to compare to those Sony signals to the output of the Sonance.

You can also then compare the response of the Sony and, say, the DirecTV (use CBl/SAT 1377) as you increase the distance of the remote from the components, or interpose some partially transparent cloth.  I think that would tell you if the Sony is less sensitive.

3FG.... I want to thank you for all the help... I think I am done with the sony.. esp after learning the signal and downloading it into the sonance without success... I am convinced now it is the ir reciever on the sony and not what I am pushing out of the sonance.... If there is a such thing as a high output emitter I may try that, otherwise I am going to go buy an HD am/fm auvio tuner 60 bucks........... from radioshack.. I think it will be up and running in an hr or so........ we'll see..

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable... I took the case of the top of the tuner to see the ir reciever/eye.. tried the ir emmitter from the sonance without the case on the tuner and the emitter directly in contact with the ir reciever on the tuner..... the case has a small hole cut out around the ir reciever... If the IR transmitter was not perfectly positioned over this hole, it did not work!!!! I am talking one inch over and out of business!!! unreal!

Also, I am not sure that I got the makehex codes to work (used sony 26.19 with respective command codes.. not sure if I was supposed to convert the 26.19 to combo device number via formula posted on sony IR site) ... I used the codes I learned in the RCA JP1 remote, then backed out with IR.exe..... all my other devices work with the emitter anywhere close to the front of the device.. not the sony!!! again, I think part of this is a sensitive ir reciever on the sony and in part the low signal from the IR emitters... no problem with any of the handheld remotes, even from a distance.... I also noticed during this process that the IR emitters can not be placed next to the IR widget to see what signal is coming out... not sure I completely understand.....

I ended up using 2 repeats in my macros.. I think the frequency ended up at 39.9.....I programmed pre+, pre- and power for now.....

thanks a bunch!! that was painful!!!
