I have found a solution to the lock up/freeze problem which, so far, has worked for me. By that, I mean it hasn’t locked for 2 days whereas before it locked several times a day.

The problem only ever occurred when using Meridian CD/pre-amp codes which the AV3000 had to learn. I deleted all these codes and got the AV3000 to relearn them but this time I was very careful to just tap each key on the Meridian quickly to give a short burst to the AV3000. Previously I had just held down the Meridian keys until the Sony beeped. Anyway, so far it works.

Perhaps one of the more technical literate contributors has an idea why.

I found just the opposite solution for Marantz equipment, with just a short burst it would freeze up
everytime, with a long burst (until the 3000 beeped) it has not locked up (3 weeks)

Guys I don't know about that solution because I've tried it both ways and it still seems to lock up. One thing I have noticed, and I don't know if this is new to anyone else but, the remote seems to lock up when you use any command continuously, like (changing the channel or raising the volume). Anyone please give me your insights. I want to try everything I can before sending it back to Sony because I have a feeling thats not going to do any good, (sending it back to Sony that is).
