Same here, I have a Sony STR-G1ES receiver which uses the rm-vp1 remote commander. The GUI comes on the screen but it says "please place the commander on the flat surface". Done that, but can't nagivate through the screen. How do you solve your problem?

Thanks!

Mmm, a 1994 model. It's vintage! Chances are your remote is broken, and it'll probably cost more to buy a replacement than it would to buy a current receiver of equal audio quality - with Dolby Digital and DTS.

Hey There I also have an old STR-G1ES with the one button egg style/ RM-VP1 Remote Commander. The amp works great, and the egg also worked great untill my son droped it about ten thousand times. I do understand it will most likely cost a stupid amount to replace the remote, but i am still interested in finding one. I have serched the net and was unseccessful. If anyone knows where i might be able to find one i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Although not new news, it's still nice to see that at least ONE company took up the VisionTouch challenge (ignoring RTI, which is too expensive for the average user).
