Greetings all, neil here and this is my first post. I have the 2100 remote, the Sony TA-E9000es and the 2way remote that ships with the pre-amp. but i do NOT have the RM-SU1 (Sony PN 1-476-402-11) that is shipped with the software upgrade kits for the 9000. the SU-1 appears to be the only way to get to the new soundfields and features added by the software upgrade, so w/o the SU-1 i cannot "learn" my 2100 and the new stuff is not on the OEM 9000 remote. i have searched all over for the RM-SU1 but can't find one only heard of them at mucho dinero...
two solutions: 1. find someone w/ an SU-1 to learn my 2100 2. get lucky and buy an SU-1 for too much
question, i have heard mention of using an inexpensive remote (like $20 from walmart) to operate the 9000 as well as being able to program a learning remote (Pronto, the like) when one has lost their OEM remote for the 9000. if this is true, does anyone know if that method provides the missing controls that would be on the SU-1?
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

As this thread explains, you need the TP-501 remote to control the E9000, and a universal remote won't do it. Even though I have no idea what you are talking about and what procedures are involved, I can only assume that this would also apply to the SU-1 also. If there was a universal remote that could be used, edmund probably would have mentioned it. However, he might know more about this SU-1 thing so he might reply to this thread and let us know.

thanx for the reply ron, here is the way it works.
1. you buy the 9000 and get the tp-501. i have both 2. you purchase the software upgrade to improve/update the soundfield, etc in the 9000 and as part of the kit, you receive a new small, one way remote (RM-SU1) 3. kit NLA, SU1 NLA, programming available/downloadable via online resources. 4. so one can update the programming, but the RM-tp501 will not access it because it does not get "upgraded" when you upgrade the 9000. the SU1 is impossible to find, thus one is left with being able to access the upgrades ONLY via front panel controls.
so what i can gather from the link above, purchase the cheapo remote that will allow you to learn discrete codes and then teach them to the 2100 or.... find someone with an SU1 to learn from directly.

Sorry, but the link I gave said there is no universal remote that will control the E9000, and the TP-501 is needed, which is why the original poster had to buy the TP-501 to control his E9000. So, if the TP-501 is the only remote that will control the E9000, and you can't get the SU-1 anymore, and there is no universal remote that will work, then you are left with manually controlling the receiver. And now I will do what I should have done in the first place, and refer you to the people who know a lot more about this than anyone here. Agoraquest Forum

Well i can get the RM-AV3000 to work the volume and input selections without any problem, however you cannot control the sound fields with out the RM-TP501 or the RM-SU1 remote.
I do have the SU1 remote which i can scan the codes for you but you will need to use the Sircs RX/TX program which i will post here today program with an IR Tx LED to enable the AV3000 to learn them.
The original site for the program is here I modified it to read 15 & 20 bit commands, it is an old turbo Pascal DOS based program
If you are using a fast PC then you will need to use TPpatch
Give me a day or so and i will post the codes from the RM-SU1 Guy

To send these to your remote you will need to save them in a text file with .sny as the file ident. i have sent the program SIrcsall to Daniel for him to add to the files section. I can email it to you if needed, all that is needed is a spare RS232 port and an IR LED connected to the TX pin. The program i have has had the TPpatch done to it and works on windows 2k

I don't have the RM-SU1 so this is absolutely wonderful to be able to simulate the RM-SU1. Thank you very much for the sircs codes. All the functions work except for the "display on/off". It's the same code as "input select<" And sure enough when programmed with that sirc code it functions as the "input select<" I wonder if you could check the sirc code for the " display on/off". I dont claim to be the writer of the program i just moddified what i found on the net years ago and have found it to be most useful. Im trying to write one in visual basic with an MS access DB to store the commands If i knew you had a navitus i would have sent you a data file which i wrote but cant use as i dont have the NX 7000 yet. Hi All,
this is my first post here.
I have a TA-E9000ES processor and the remote has died. I now only have my dvd remote to control the volume control, can't do anything else.
It looks as if these "sircs" (whatever they are) can be used on the NX7000 and work well. If i got an RM-AX4000 could i use the codes on this page to program it in order to control my TA-E9000ES?

Ben Indeed with the above codes an RM-AX4000 should be able to control the unit, there are some people here trying to create programs to enable the conversion of the raw codes to ones the AX4000 can understand. I will try and post them here soon. Guy

I converted a CCF file and got the following set for the AX4000. Maybe this will help. I think MrMods codes might need to have the same 035A08 lead in and would fill the gap below.
